Estimated sign

The estimated sign, ℮, also referred to as the e-mark or estimated quantity can be found on most prepackaged products in the European Union (EU). Its use indicates that the prepackage fulfils EU Directive 76/211/EEC, which specifies the maximum permitted tolerances in package content.

• It can be used only when the beverage filling line has appropriate certification.
• The minimum height of the ℮ sign is 3 mm.
• It must be in the same field of view as the volume numerical specification.
• If the volume is displayed more than once on the packaging, the symbol must be displayed for each volume.
